PODCAST: New way to enhance self- learning?

Today in our CALL class we learnt about how to upload Podcast. Although it was quite difficult as I did not have a laptop like others, still I would say I have learnt a bit. I really need to sit and work on my own to actually grab hold of the theories learnt.

Pod casting, once learned, I believe, it would help me to teach better or will it become a task too great? I must agree that it is quite interesting I mean preparing and uploading a Podcast.

There are thousands of podcasts waiting to be downloaded and listened to. What I fear is that there are far too many podcasts!!! If a learner is unable to narrow their search, it would become a  difficult task of finding a needle under a haystack thus he/ she would lose interest to learn. I'm speaking in terms of a second language learner.... Well, I guess we just need to wait and see.


Question remains in context of Bangladesh, will this be a success and an important teaching/learning tool for both teachers & second language learners?

My First Blog

For the first time, I had to create my own blog for my ELT Computer Assisted Language Learning Course. It was quite challenging!At first I had to get my University account and password for the Computer Lab, there was no network then the computer would not allow me to install itunes to top it off, the Keyboard was not working!!!
I had to get a Lab Technician  to fix the problem. While he was at it, I just sat and watched my peers progressing from one task to another..... I had to wait for half an hour to get things sorted out.   
When I started to create the blog, the font was in BANGLA!! I couldn't understand a thing! Thankfully, a fellow student named Jamal, rescued me by solving the problem.
For those who think that creating a blog is easy.... well, think again! I've been there and done that! I would say it was quite an experience!
