A Bangladeshi Story by Pierre Johannessen
I have used this podcast to teach Listening and writing skill in my English Language class for the students of Grade 9,(all three sections)
Lesson Plan:
Grade-9
Age group 16-17,
Class strength-30 students.
Focused skill: Listening skill
Sub skill: Critical thinking and writing to inform, explain.
First, the Multimedia was set in the Multipurpose room previous day for the video to be shown during the Homeroom time for 20 mins.
Students were instructed that they would need to listen carefully as they would be asked to answer three questions and also to write a letter expressing their thoughts and feelings based on the message given by the speaker in their English Language class later on. They were further informed that the video will only be played once so they should take notes to help them to write the letter later in their English Language class.
Then the video was played for 18 minutes.
It was found out that 10 students had taken part in a Basketball Game organized by the speaker's Organization,Big Bang Ballers, but they did not know anything about it.
Later in the English Language class (which is 40 mins.)
After 10mins. discussion on the video, students were given 20 mins.to write their letter.
Topic for the letter was:
