My purpose for creating the blog and Podcast

My purpose for creating the blog:

My reason for creating the blog was quite obvious as it was my course Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) requirement.

In this 21^st century, in order to teach the new digital generation, I believe it will enable me to teach confidently and also communicate with my students efficiently by removing the monotony and the confinement of four walls of the classroom teaching.

As I have mentioned earlier, by learning how to create a blog and use it not only to teach students but also to inform parents about their child’s progress, thus making them an integral part of their child’s life. Also as blogs have comprehensive videos, manuals, help forums, and even live support sessions and webinars which  are great for group projects, ePortfolios, school newspapers, reflection journals, class websites, and much more, it will enable me to  implement the MYP (Middle Years Program) of the IB (International Baccalaureate)  the curriculum, which the Aga Khan School, Dhaka , follows successfully.

Podcast:

The word podcast is a combination of the two words iPod and broadcast. Podcasting has been compared to radio broadcasting because it usually has a single producer (or group of people producing it) and the audio transmission is sent to lots of listeners. What’s different about podcasting is that, unlike radio, the person listening doesn’t have to listen to it at the time of broadcasting. Instead of a radio transmitter, a podcast is stored on the web as a digital sound file and this sound file can then be transferred to any computer or digital device, such as an iPod or MP3 player. The listeners can then choose when they listen.

Podcasting can be used to help students develop their listening and speaking skills both inside and outside the classroom.

My Topic on Podcast:

The topic of my podcast is Role of men in modern world. The reason why I chose this topic as I believe that the empowerment of women in this 21st century has downtrodden the roles played by men.

Through this, I would like to teach my students to develop their listening skill and critical thinking skill. Also as they will be engaged in writing, it will enhance their writing skill.

As this an argumentative topic, I think my students will gain self-respect and alter their behavior and attitude for years to come.
