Podcast: Role of Modern Men

Role of Men (mp3)

 Appendix -1

Script 1

Topic: Role of Men

 "Why are men now days such losers?"

That's what I hear most of the time while working, when out in an invitation or even when I'm in the grocery store!

Hello everyone, you are listening to my first PODCAST on nasrinz.blogspot.com.

 I am Nasrin, a student of The Presidency University, Dhaka in beautiful, sunny Bangladesh.  This podcast is on: Roles of Modern Men.

 After hearing a number of sweeping statements made on men, I have decided on this topic Role of Men in Bangladesh for my CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning) podcast. I believe men now days are being downtrodden by the empowerment of women.
In the past, men and women generally had their own roles to fulfill. The "traditional family" structure -- in which women were the caregivers and in charge of the households, men-- the breadwinners of the family. These traditional gender roles were the norm back then, -- which now has become, to a large extent, a myth as the gender roles have changed.
Globally, a new ideal of fatherhood is emerging.
The "new" father:
  • Is present at the birth of his child;
  • Has close relationships with his children;
  • Cooperates with his partner; and
  • Shares in household tasks.
The development of the so-called 'new father' role model, who spends a large proportion of his time caring for his children, isn't as new as pop culture experts would have us believe. We all think that men are becoming such great fathers who are prepared to look after their children but some races have been doing it for centuries.
So, listeners, I’ll leave you with that thought to ponder upon and you can share your views and comments on my blog that is nasrinz.blogspot.com.
Tune in to the same site for the next episode on Men’s role in empowering women.
Sounds interesting? It will be!
Thank you and Bye!
